Lesson 8

Lesson 8: 12-02-09

In this lesson we had the time to produce our preliminary task of the front cover of the St Mark's school magazine. We individually chose the layout, images, font types, information and colour schemes to our front covers, and tried to think specifically about our target audiences.
The task was to help us think about our ideas carefully, so when it comes to producing our music magazine, it will enable us to use the appropriate techniques to fulfil the aims effectively.
The school magazine that I produced was specifically targeted to the Sixth Form of St Mark's only. Therefore, I used an image using two year twelves as the front cover and included captions of information that was included within the content that would appeal directly to the Sixth Form. UCAS tips, exam technique and star sixth former were all parts that would have been included within the magazine, which was made clearly on the front cover. The layout was bold, and used vibrant colours as the image was situated within the library which suggests the study side to the sixth form itself. The front cover was made to fulfil the needs of the sixth form and included topics which would have been useful and informative for the readers. I think this task worked very well, and I enjoyed producing the front cover thinking carefully about every detail, and I was happy with the outcome. It will help give us an insight into the expectations of an audience,
espcially when it comes to making our music magazine as part of our coursework.
